We were looking at purchasing a Goalrilla basketball system for a few years now. The newer GS54 seems to be of the same quality as the older models and though it's a little cheaper than the old series it feels rock solid. Either way, we finally decided to pull the trigger and get it in place for a recent party. Assembly is pretty easy but the instructions are a little off on the amount of concrete it says is needed. We went through 12 x 80lb bags of Quickrete and we dug our hold according to specs so word of advice buy extra concrete. Two more bags should not cost you more than an additional $10 so save yourself some hassle. I had 10 bags mixed (2 at a time) and poured them into the hole before finding out I needed two more!!! Good thing is I am minutes away from Home Depot. Outside of that I managed to get the pole up myself and bolted and to get the rim up I backed my pickup up to the post and hefted the backboard onto the mounting arm while my wife put the bolts on. You'll probably be better off with 2-3 people to help with that step but I had to try it myself. Final result is an absolutely great basketball system that plays like a professional system!

For the basketball goal itself, I rate it 5 stars. It's made of thick steel that will last a lifetime. Glass backboard plays like a regulation goal and is so much better than acrylic/fiberglass. Artificial boards are often found on portable goals which shake like a Quaker on stims when the ball hits. The Goalrilla stays still and true.It's heavy so be prepared to get some help, especially mounting the backboard. It took 3 of us with the goal lowered to its lowest position, 2 on ladders and one behind to put the bolts through. The rest of the assembly can be done by one person. I chose to put up the bare pole first then attach the arms and crank. Total time was about 3 hours spread over 2 days.I took off 1 star because of the shipper. Some may feel that's unfair when rating the product, but shipping is a big deal for something this big & heavy. Vitran Express damaged the pole and lost the pole cap. I decided to live with the damage and spray paint it to prevent corrosion.Overall I'm very pleased with this goal and recommend it highly.

Bought this as a birthday present for my son, but really, something this solid is a gift for everyone on the block. Set up took 11 bags of concrete due to a slight variance in hole size (you must dig a 48" deep by 20" wide hole, basically). I recommend standing on a pick-up tailgate to install the backboard on the pole. It will take two men and a boy, minimum. It's a heavy-duty system, and we look forward to years of hoops with it. All pieces present, and just had to slightly de-burr one hole to make it all fit just right. Quality product. Good instructions.
