Finally finished assembling and mounting this goal last week. Am very happy with the results - the directions were clear enough, and the materials are of good quality. Hardest part (besides digging the massive hole), was filling the pole with concrete. This had to be done after everything was together and it was not easy to get it to flow to the bottom properly without clogging at the top. This was not a negative to this particular unit per say, but complicated things nonetheless. In the ground, the goal is quite sturdy and looks fantastic. Plays very well too. Would recommend very much for folks wanting a reasonably priced in-ground unit.

Much like the other reviews, I find this to be good for the price. After installing it, and playing with it for a few months, if I had to do it all over again I would have spent more money and went with something else.1) 50 inches works but is small. The good thing is that the 50 inches in not measured like a TV (horizontal), it's the length of the base. If possible find something 50 inches (piece of cardboard, wood, or something) have a buddy get on a ladder and hold it around 10 feet off the ground. Now go back 15 feet and imagine shooting a free throw...that will give you some idea how this looks because 50 inches out of the box feels a lot bigger than 50 inches 10 feet off the ground!2) The wobbling "dunk" bolt/ spring-thing. When I was a kid a rim would come with 4 holes, that were flushed with 4 holes on the backboard that you would attach with 4 bolts...might not be Shaq proof but it didn't move when the ball hit it. This has 1 long bolt with a 3 inch tension spring that goes into 1 hole on the backboard...the end result is that if the ball hits the left or right side of the rim, it moves slightly down on that side (and raises it on the other).3) The acrylic backboard looks great, plays okay, but splintered on a dunk. The NBA logo, navy blue lines, and shine really pop especially when you take off the plastic. The 'give' is decent, so bank shots feel good. However, the very first dunk, turned out to be the last dunk because some splintering where some of the hardware is attached. It doesn't seem to have any impact, but the integrity is compromised, and no more dunking.4) Looking back I didn't hit any roadblocks on assembling or installing but the poles were kind of a pain. There are 3 sections and they rest within each other. It says to get the overlap between 3-4 inches, which takes some serious pounding...I think even with that I only got them to 3.5. This is were it gets tricky, once they are together there is no getting them apart, so don't try a dry fit. Because I couldn't dry fit, I didn't know where my 10 foot rim mark would be. So I did all this pounding to get the poles to the 3-4 inch range, and when all was said and done my rim sits at 9 ft 11.5 inches...1/2 inch off. I'm okay with it being this close...but really found it weird for the instructions to give a range of 3-4 inch overlap which will directly impact the height of the rim...just give one measurement so if I do everything right I end up with 10 feet!Given those issues, the price is great so I don't feel ripped off...happy balling!

The hardest part about the installation is the digging of the hole. I got confused a couple times, but after taking my time and rereading the directions, I was able to figure it out. Overall very satisfied with this unit for the price. I wanted a larger one, but not worth the extra money.
