The Spalding 68564 features a 60" steel framed acrylic backboard with authentic style board pads. The Screw Jack lift system features a removable handle to prevent tampering once the desired height has been set. Purchased this item with amazon prime shipping on Monday afternoon and the hoop arrived at my door on thursday. I began putting it together myself on Thursday evening. I am a 5'6",135 pound mommy, and I put this together on my own with the help of my rubbermaid Christmas storage container, a mallet, a six foot ladder, and a ratchet wrench (I think it's called). It was definitely difficult and I suffered a setback when I put the poles together without lining them up with the "dimple". I lined them up using the holes, which was wrong and had to pull the poles apart with the help of a friend, my Landrover and a tree, but other than that, I did it all myself. When i had the pole together and attached to the base, I laid the whole thing down to put together the backboard. It solidly took me about 7 hours to put this thing together. I spent a little extra to buy a hoop that I wouldn't mind looking at in the front of my house on a daily basis. I am glad that I did. It is really a very high quality hoop and looks great in my driveway. It is very substantial which I expect will do well in the high winds that we get off the Bay. In sum, I am very happy with this purchase. I'm happy I spent the extra few hundred dollars to get a high quality hoop. This was not an easy item to assemble at all, but it can be done with very little angst as long as you have patience and read the directions carefully. The ratchet wrench also made the assembly go more smoothly.

WOW this was more work than I thought! I worked on it for two days and after all was said and done it's crooked. I have tried everything but it stands cock-eyed at the backboard level and the floor level in different directions. Think the problem stems from the center supports and the way they twist the center post to the base. Think after spending this much I should have investigated a permanent in ground solution for a little more.

I bought this product two months ago for my kids. They really like it and so far it does well. Assembly instructions call for two people. I definitely recommend that. I put it together myself and although the process is not difficult, some steps are much easier with two.My only complaint is with the base. I initially decided to fill it with sand for extra stability and because I live in an area with harsh winters. I bought several bags of sand per the instructions and quickly realized that there is no easy way to fill the base (customer service confirmed this when I asked for some tips). I decided to fill it with water instead. The next day the gauge was showing empty so I peaked in and saw that the water level dropped about half way. I refilled and observed a leak on the seam where the top and bottom pastic molds are joined.This was a big disappointment especially when I told my kids they couldn't play on their new hoop because of safety issues. I contacted customer service, got a prompt response, and received a new base in about a week. All ended well but I expect new products to be free of defects.
