This was a gift for my 8 year old son for Christmas. This was very easy to put together (four screws) and hooks over the door perfectly. The back of the board is padded on the top and the bottom to prevent scratching. He has probably slammed a ball through it over 200 times in the last three days and it takes the beating. I have no doubt it will hold up well.The ball that came with it appears to be made with the same material as normal size balls which is ok. Since this is more than likely going inside someones house the fact that the ball is made of a harder material made me switch out the ball with another one he had that was rubbery.I recommend this to anyone who wants a well made hoop in the house.

Professional waste basket hoopsters who are forever looking for THE shot, can now find some degree of satisfaction with this Spalding NBA Slam Jam Backboard kit. After scouting several sites, I mounted this backboard on the back of the door of my office. After three weeks of not so serious testing by my associates and my self, these are my thoughts.Out of the box and after a quick inventory, assembly is simple. Since wall mounting hardware was not included I chose the door option. The over the door brackets are the industry standard. The padding is built to last. The backboard is smaller then my other one. It measures in at 18" x 10.5" and made of a clear polycarbonate. The break away rim is sweet. The nylon netting tangles and is what it is.Personally, I'm not a big fan of the 4" rubber ball. Its about an inch or more too small. Fully inflated its no Nerf ball. Undoubtedly, it will cause some collateral damage. Still unlike other balls out there, this one doesn't require frequent air fixes. Personally, its not the go to ball for this kit.Even though this product passes the test there is room for lots of improvement. Slapping on the NBA logo isn't enough. Fix the small ball issue. A larger, painted backboard would be sweet. Adding a metal chain net vice the nylon would definitely seal the deal. Still this one has hope. Its ideal for amateur waste basket hoopsters.

The Spalding NBA Slam Jam Mini Basketball Hoop is easy to assemble and has a nice basket but that ball is WAAAAAY too hard for indoor use. I challenge you to find anyplace you can set it up indoors that the basketball won't end up breaking something.Still, that's an easy fix. I just went out and got a smaller, rubber ball and now I can use my basketball hoop without constantly worrying (and with less noise).
